Jerry McClain started his career in the building supply industry and soon moved into the new homes sales area with a local custom builder.  In 1966 he formed The Jerry McClain Company as president and sole owner.   At that time he specialized in quality custom homes and remodeling.  Today The Jerry McClain Companies have expanded into specialty commercial construction, light industrial, 50+ housing and assisted living residences as well as homes and renovation work. With Jerry’s attention to design, quality and service, he soon became the premiere custom builder in Licking County.  These qualities have never been abandoned in the many custom buildings the company has developed over the years.

In 1986 Jerry, in collaboration with his daughter Beverly Donaldson, saw a need for senior assisted living residences in Ohio.  In 1987 he developed and built one of the first facilities in Central Ohio, SharonBrook in Newark.  It was so successful that fourteen additional residences have been developed all over Ohio.  The facility that was developed in Heath, also includes twenty-six luxury condominium units designed for individuals 55 and older.  These were constructed using a Universal Design concept that won a national award for design innovation in 2004.

Mr. McClain serves on the board of the Salvation Army, is a Board member of Heartland Bank and its holding company, is a member of the Newark Area Chamber of Commerce, the Newark Downtown Association, Newark Rotary Club, Shaffner Society, Heath Church of Christ and the Midland Theater Board.  He has also been a major proponent of the revitalization of downtown Newark.

Jerry is a native of Licking County where he continues to live with his wife Debbie.  He has six children, all of whom reside in the same county.  Many of his children continue to work with Jerry in his company, and strive to maintain the same work ethic and quality of construction that has made the company great.

Roger McClain joined The Jerry McClain Company in 1980 as the Vice President of sales and management for new home and commercial construction.  Roger has built homes for his customers ranging in price from $200,000 to $2,000,000.  Roger has the innate ability to visualize those important little details and fine tune every home that he builds which makes each house a personalized “home” for his customers.  His attention to quality and honesty as a businessman has earned him the distinction of being the new home “guru” of Central Ohio.

Roger has lived his entire life in Licking County, Ohio.  Roger and his wife, Cathy, currently reside in northeastern Licking County and are the proud parents of three children.

Mac is a native of Central Ohio and graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, OH with an Education Degree in 1968.  After a short career in the teaching field, he began work with the Jerry McClain Company where he currently serves as Vice President in charge of Senior Assisted Living Residences.

Mac began his career in the remodeling field for the McClain Company and maintained that background for many years.  He has also participated in the construction management of custom homes and commercial projects for the company and began working in the Assisted Living field for McClain in 1986.  He was involved in a project in Heath, Ohio where he incorporated the concept of Aging-in-Place and Universal Design as part of a “Visitable” community, combined with one of the latest assisted living residences, The Chapel Grove Inn.  This project won a Gold Award in 2004 at the Senior Housing Design Awards Program in Las Vegas.

He has been a member of many committees for the local Building Industry Association, and also served as president for two separate terms.  Kennedy spent many years on the Ohio Homebuilders Association Executive Committee and approximately 13 years as Chairman of the Ohio Remodeler’s Council.  In 1995 he was appointed by OHBA to the Residential Lead Abatement Advisory Council for Ohio and currently serves as a Life Director for OHBA and NAHB.

Mac has served on numerous councils for NAHB, including the Remodeler’s Council, Commercial Builders, and the Senior Housing Council.  He has been a trustee for the Commercial Builders and Seniors Housing Councils.  Mac was chairman of the Senior’s Council in the year 2000 during which time he served on the NAHB Executive Committee.  He also served on the Manufactured Housing Task Force and is currently a member of the Homestore Advisory Task Force for NAHB.  He is currently serving as co-chair for the newly formed Ohio 50+ Housing Council.

Mr. Kennedy has spoken at the Multi Housing World Convention, local builder’s organizations and The International Builder’s Show in the areas of Senior Assisted Living and Universal Design.

Mac serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Disability Services in Licking County, which is an organization that was begun to assist individuals and their families with developmental disabilities.  He has also been a member of Rotary International since 1982 and currently resides in Granville, Ohio with his wife Sheila of 38 years.

Mark Caughenbaugh was hired by The Jerry McClain Company in 1977 as a laborer, worked in the field to learn the remodeling trade and continued in this capacity or several years.  In 1986 Jerry McClain Construction, Inc. was established and Mark Caughenbaugh was named Vice President of sales and management of residential and commercial remodeling.  Mark’s ability to effectively manage numerous projects concurrently has enabled him to grow the remodeling portion of Jerry McClain Construction, Inc. into a multi-million dollar business.  No matter how large or how small the project is, he maintains a continuous line of communication between his customers, his workers, and himself to provide the highest level of quality possible for each and every project. Mark is  a graduate of Licking Valley High School and has lived in the Licking County area his entire life. He resides in eastern Licking County with his wife, Lori.  They have five children and three grandchildren.

John Noblick joined the company in 1971 as a Design Draftsman.  While still a student, John worked half days at a drafting table directly beside Jerry McClain’s desk.  John’s experience spans three and one half decades with the company.  He utilizes his experience, expertise and attention to detail on every project.

John works with residential customers, project managers, architects, engineers and others in order to define plans for custom homes, new kitchens and baths, room additions and more in the Licking County area.  Most recently John has been involved in the residential condominium project at The Inn at Chapel Grove in Heath, as well as several private dwellings and remodeling projects throughout the area.

Mr. Noblick has also contributed to many of the commercial structures completed by the McClain Company by coordinating architects, engineers and other design professionals.
His professional expertise and attention to detail, as well as his ability to foresee potential problems in the field, has made John invaluable to the company.

John resides in eastern Licking County with his wife Charlene and they have four grown children.

Pat Hinger has been a highly respected employee with The Jerry McClain Companies where she has served as Secretary and Comptroller for over 33 years.  She has been charged with many critical duties for the company in addition to comptroller, including office manager, and as a personal assistant for Mr. McClain.  She continues to plan and carry out the budgeting process for each company as well as completing all intermittent and year end tax records.  Ms. Hinger is a skilled teacher of bookkeeping skills as she trains and oversees each financial director for most of the assisted living facilities developed by the company.  She also participates as an advisor and assists in the development of partnerships and business relationships involving each of the company’s subsidiaries.

Pat has been a long time resident of Licking County and presently lives in Heath with her husband, Keith.

Chad Shumaker joined the Company in 2004 as a Project Manager.  With Chad’s Associates Degree of Applied Science in Architecture, he possesses an extensive background in design and brings this knowledge to his current position.  With this background, Chad has the ability to recommend design elements and provide details as needed to bring a project to completion.  His area of expertise is commercial remodeling and he has seen his portion of the business continue to grow.  Chad’s past projects include renovation work for Licking Memorial Health Systems, Newark Health Imaging, Cedar Hills Cemetery, and numerous other commercial projects, as well as residential renovations.
                                   
Chad is also a Licking Valley High School graduate resides eastern Licking County with his wife, Shanna, and their three children.

As the Inn’s Regional Director, Cindi Haney has over 25 years of experience in health care from hospital administration, to long term care, both in assisted living and full service communities.  During the last 15 years she has dedicated her career to serving our senior population.  She has come to us from Sunrise Senior Living where she was the regional director of operations for Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton.  Cindi has moved through the ranks of corporations starting as a regional sales manager to administrator and then area operations manager.  Each role has prepared her for the next and provided her with a respect and understanding of each team member’s importance and challenges.

Cindi is originally from Sharon, Pennsylvania and attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree.  She later graduated with her Masters in Business Administration from Xavier University.

Cindi resides in Lewis Center, Ohio with her husband George and three sons, Andy, Jay and Brad.  They enjoy a busy life style with both family and friends.
